Cranioplasty, how long do they last on average?

My husband had a cranioplasty in 1972 after a GSW to the R. parietal area. He was informed that it may need to be replaced after 10 years.  It has been 40, and you can see the ridges where it was connected to the skull, and seems to be getting more prominent esp. the last few years. No headaches to speak of, but it is very tender at times, esp. if he "bumps" the area.  Thanks!

Cranioplasty can last forever. But as you get older and the bones weaken, through aging,  lack of Calcium. Vitamin D, and other Vitamins, Nutrients and Minerals,  it may require him to sleep on the side that's not Cranioplasty effected to save the uniformity and effectiveness of his skull in protecting his Brain.
I had a Cranioplasty with hemoclips after a 3 1/2 month Coma and multiple brain surgeries to save me.   The Cranioplasty side does weaken and there is no Physician Specialist established or in existence to fix this problem, so he must be strict and disciplined in protecting this area.   He will never know the constant Brain Damage and Destruction on irritating this side of his Cranioplsty.
