Did my father in law have a stroke or complex migraine?

Today my father in law was reading some things allowed to a group of people. All day he had had a migraine (he gets them). I am not sure if he still had it at the time he was reading.

He tried to read allowed, but each time he only got through the first part of the sentence, then stopped. This went on a few times. Everyone looked at each other and my brother-in-law rushed up and took over for him.  Everyone was worried he had a stroke. I was not there but this is what I was told. I am not sure how it looked but it was more than just someone fumbling over words.  He said he simply couldn't read them. This lasted just for a minute then was gone. No other sensation.

Does anyone have any detailed info of complex migraine (if he still had a migraine at that time) vs TIA?  Anyone out there who knows the difference or could flesh out what they think may have happened here?

He is 74 and no health problems we know of.  But he doesn't ever visit the doctor.

Thank you!
