Numbness on left side of face.

Hello, I have numbness on the left side of my face, very unusual headaches, as well as a weird salty like taste in my mouth, I'm on TOPEMAX for migraines can this cause numbness in the face? and if so can it cause it to be this extreme like this? I also noticed my eyes have been extremely dry I didn't think much of it before because I wear contact lenses but considering today I only had them in for 30min and they felt so dry.

I checked my blood pressure normal as usual I'm concerned considering my only 28 yrs. old with no health problems other then suffering from headaches/ migraines. What would you suggest? I go see my neurologist Nov 8th?

Topomax may not known for causing numbness of your face, but anything is possible with a medication.  So your doctor was wise to reduce it and see if the numbness gets better.  I would assume that the Topomax has helped your migraines.  There are other daily preventative medications that can help with migraines if the numbness is from the Topomax.  But then the next medication will take some time to work, if it does.  That's why there are different preventive meds.  If your numbness gets worse or if you have other symptoms, you should get medical help as your doctor said.  Good luck.

My neurologist said Topomax would not cause numbness in the face hands but not the face. Since then hes moved my appt to Nov 8th and lowered the dosage of Topamax to to 25mg twice daily instead of 25mg four times daily. He does not think the numbness in the fave I'm experiencing has anything to do with Topemax and has strongly suggested to watch it and if happens again seek medical attention abd as a precaution he lowered the dosage of Topemax.

Absolutely, It is definitely a side effect of Topomax. I'm on Diamox, it causes My feet, Hands, lips and face tingle. Also, My ears ring. You should definitely hydrate yourself with plenty of water while on this medicine, eat bananas.....drink some orange juice and take a multivitamin. As far as your dry eyes, you need rewetting eye drops. You can use this throughout the day as much as you need. They are inexpensive and very helpful. Good Luck.
