The ultrasound should not have caused any pain whatsoever! See a doctor about that. And ask them to do a transcranial doppler ultrasound (aka "bubbletest") to see if you may have a PFO (hole in your heart) that may have caused your stroke--it caused mine. An astonishing 25% of the population has a PFO and the vast majority have no idea!

This is really excellent information.  Thank you very much for sharing this with our members. For those reading,, here is additional information on PFO https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/patent-foramen-ovale/symptoms-causes/syc-20353487.  This is definitely something for the poster to have evaluated.
I should have noted that there are two tests to determine if you have a PFO: (1) a transesophageal echo cardiogram (TEE) and (2) a transcranial doppler ultrasound, a.k.a. "bubbletest" The TEE is, in my opinion, not reliable. I had TEE that came back as a false negative. A bubbletest proved otherwise. I then had an 30mm PFO closure device put into my heart to prevent another stoke. Here is a link to a one-minute Youtube video showing the procedure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOtk_FSfHpw
