I think I had a TIa

I am a 32 year old woman and I had a very strange expierience today. I was finishing shopping when I got a sharp stabbing pain on the top right side of my head. I then became very sick and disorientated and had pins and needdle sensations on the left side of my face especially around my mouth. I am worried because I just googled this and found TIA. My mother had a stroke 3 years ago. I am a smoker and a drinker but am not overweight. Any advice I am so worried. Thanks

I would definitely get it checked out at an er.  I am an rn that works in an er.  These are not only symptoms of tia or cva, but could be something as simple as a migraine headache.  Please go get it checked, and good luck!

A transient ischemic attack (TIA, often colloquially referred to as "mini stroke") is caused by the temporary disturbance of blood supply to a restricted area of the brain, resulting in brief neurologic dysfunction that usually persists for less than 24 hours.
Symptoms vary widely from person to person, depending on the area of the brain involved.
The most frequent symptoms include temporary loss of vision (typically amaurosis fugax); difficulty speaking (aphasia); weakness on one side of the body (hemiparesis); and numbness or tingling (paresthesia), usually on one side of the body.
Patients diagnosed with a TIA are sometimes said to have had a warning for an approaching stroke.

Smoking and drinking are both high risk factors for stroke. I would suggest that you make a radical decision to give up both and maintain a healthier life-style.

Please do visit with a doctor and try to inate the under-lying cause. yOU MAY ALSO BE PUT ON PREVENTIVE DRUGS IF tia IS CONFIRMED.
