Doc,
The military doctors are now thinking that it was a mild stroke and not a TIA because although some of my symptoms have improved, but I still have weakness on my left side and lightheadeness. I am now going to neurology on friday and they are also sending me to get an ultrasound on my Carotid artery.
Thank you Dr for taking the time to reply. I am having am EEG on thursday, do you think they will find anything wrong, seeing how I still have balance problems and a constant buzzing in my head (not audible, just a feeling)?
Hi there!
TIA by definition does not have any residual effects post 24 hours. If there are residual effects beyond 24 hours the condition is classified as a stroke. Your symptoms could or could not be related to stroke etiology. Other possibilities that could account for symptoms include nutrient/ micronutrient deficiencies, stress, hormonal/ endocrine issues etc. I would suggest considering an initial evaluation by a primary care physician and depending on the cause diagnosed/ suspected, it can be managed accordingly or specialist care may be sought.
Hope this is helpful.
Take care!
