My Daughter

My 37 year old daughter had a stroke 5-27-2009. Her left carotid artery behind ear has large clot,no blood flow,so they say this is good. She was very fortunate that all that really is troubling her is her speech and thought process. My question is about pain in her neck past two days. She says it hurts on left side, not like a stiff neck but actually hurts. Is this something to be concerned about?

Hi!  It sounds like your daughter had a similar stroke as mine.  I am a 37 yr old female and now 1 1/2 yrs post stroke.  I remember feeling pain in what I assume was the artery but it has pretty much gone away.  My dissection was a little lower than your daughters so it may be a little different for me.  My pain felt like my artery was aching but I don't know.  I have had 3 mri/mra's and nothing has changed so I know there is nothing to be concerned about.  The dr's put me on narcotics in the hospital for the pain but that stuff screwed me up more than helped me.  I hope this helps!  I wish your daughter the best in her recovery!

Hi

I have no idea what the problem is.  I would always get things checked out rather than leave it to chance.
