Small Stroke??

Last Monday after a shower I noticed tingling in my right foot. followed by numbness on the right, bottom part of my tounge, then on both lips, right side only. My hand felt funny too. I play guitar so I checked to see if I could. It was strange. I could play a little, but it felt funny. I checked my BP, 165/110. After about 30 minutes, I was sure something was wrong. Went to ER, had a ct (negative) was flown to larger hospital within 30 min. (scary!!), had another ct w/contrast (negative). Had an Mri 3 hours later, negative except for an old lesion/stroke thingy. Docs checked me, said i had a little weakness on the right side, and that I must have had a lacunar stroke, but weren't positive. Had the echo, MRA, and, crvical mri, negative except for bulging discs and ddd (left side). OT, and PT saw me later, and while they acknowleged a little difficulty, didn't seem to think I shouldn't drive (I drive truck for a living). Discharged the next day with a DX of Rt sided Parathesias. Googled that and it said tingling. I've been home for two days and the tingling is more like heavy/weak feeling. I tried to drive my car, and it felt like I had a HUGE pair of boots on. Couldn't sense where the pedal was. Also, it seemed like I had to think harder then normal what to do next. Like I had to conciously think "ok, watch for people, traffic and stuff" insted of it being more normal. I guess my question is do ya'll think I had a s"real" stroke? And, should I drive? I am scheduled for OT and PT eval This tuesday. I just don't feel right, but the docs made me feel like it wasn't that bad. Dunno.....

Don't drive!  You've probably had a stroke.  Probably lacunar and of a less common type.  That weakness could be progression or just could be due to the sensory deficit.  Any additional symptoms should prompt you to call 911.

From the experience with my wife I can state that her physical capacity after stroke was restored within six months. But after six months she developed dementia. Why doctor did not forewarn is not understood. But there are many cases like that. You may raise this point with your doctor. By precautions I mean be prepared. Ultimately doctor has to deal with this.

nagrajjain, I'm a little confused by your comment. I understand what you're saying, but I didn't mention any fear of dementia. Also, what would these precautions I would need to take in order to avoid dementia?

You must take all actions to avoid dementia later on which is after effect of stroke. Restoring physical effects of stroke is much more eassy but dementia may not be reversed. Please take all precautions .
