Stroke Recovery

My 59 yrs Mom had stroke due to hypertension. CT Scan says "Large left thalamic hematoma extending to ganglio capsular region & corona radiata along with intraventricular extension". Doctors drained lot of blood/fluid and finally they put a stunt. Initially she showed some response on her left side but while she was still in the hospital she had a seizure and then she completely lost all responses. Neurologist gave up and asked us to take her home/nursing facility however a neurosurgeon at another hospital placed shunt as the latest CT showed lot of brain fluid.

She now has shunt, peg for feeding into the stomach, urine bag and tractotomy to breath via her neck. It's been 60 days since she had the stroke. My question is does anyone know if someone with similar stroke recovered even partially and if so after how long. I know that every patient is different and their recovery won't be same. We are doing physio but all cases we heard so far are accident cases and they do seem to recover after a while but I never care across any patient like my mom who recovered.

Please share your experience if you know of someone who recovered after stroke like my mom had. Thank you in advance.

Kkris my mother had a stroke in2005(can't remember the right year)She was on machine and lost her speach and the ablity to move any left side.As a family we all wash her and as we did we message her mucels. Before her pass in 2009 she told me she was able to move her arm.So don't give up now it also takes your mom to want to get better.Encourage your mom, tell her that she getting better. Put the egarness in her heart so she may see herslf.

Thanks shinystare230. My mom is now constantly sleeping for the past 2/3 days. She opens her eyes now and then. I am not sure if she will improve over time or something needs to be done. She is home now after 2 months in hospitals etc.
