Stroke

My stroke was caused to a clot in the right pons.  Can someone give me information about the function of the pons?  I know it is located in the brain stem, but I do not know its function, i.e language, balance, etc.

1.Respiration.
2.Sleep.
3.Balance.
4.Hearing & taste.
5.Facial movements & expressions.
6.Control of muscles of the forehead, face, & neck.
7.Eye movement controls.

Are the most essential functions controlled by Pons.

Good Luck.
