Support groups

I was just wondering how much support is out there for the younger stroke victims maybe in the format of groups or chatrooms or something.

Hi Brodo256,
I also had a stroke and have been looking for groups/message boards for young people who have had strokes. I haven't found too much, but there are a few groups on facebook.  It seems like all the resources are for parents of young kids/babies who have had strokes or much older people who have had strokes.
When did you have your stroke?  How have you been doing since?

My 35 year old daughter had a stroke on August 26, 2008.  I have also been looking for a message board or a group for support for her.  Everything I am finding is for older people and I must say, young people's issues are so different.  If any of you find something please come back and post it. I would be curious to know why you each had your stroke at a young age?  My daughter's was from birth control pills and I think this is more common that most people realize.   I hope all of you are doing well with your recovery and with life in general.

Why was my response to this thread removed?  I have not had any communication with any mods regarding my post & yet it is gone.  I know I referred to other web sites  but numerous other posts do similar.  I was trying to help the OP get the support they are seeking.

I am wondering the same thing. I am 40 years young and suffered a stroke Oct 1, 2008.  Also, I feel I was malpracticed by my primary physician and was told this in no uncertain terms from my new doctor.  Does anyone have any information on what recourse I can take, if any?  I know it would be hard to prove, but my God, she released me from the hospital while I was in the midst of having the stroke. I ended up back at the hospital much worse than before and was given tPA.  Thank God I am recovering.  It's been an uphill battle, but I have great support and a wonderful new team of physicians! :)

As everyone else, I am also looking for some sort of support group out there. I only just turned 20 about two months ago and it's kind of rough finding people my ago to relate to.
