Hello, I'm wondering if my symptoms are indicative of a mild stroke. I've had this same thing happen a couple of times over the last decade, with varying severity, the most recent incident being two weeks ago. I went to sleep with a headache and woke up extremely dizzy, hoping a couple more hours of sleep would make it go away, which it did not. A headache persisted for the next two days and after it was finally gone the mild dizziness and general weakness has persisted ever since. This dizziness is not classic vertigo or blurred vision, more a general "out of it" sense that has me feeling slow/dull and like my eyes/brain are having trouble staying in sync, very much like I've been drinking. I have a fast-paced job and it has been extremely difficult staying sharp through this persisting haze.
As I mentioned, this has happened a couple of times over the last 10 years, and typically resolves itself in a matter of days, weeks, or months. It's worth noting that I was diagnosed with essential hypertension (very high) in 1999 (age 19) and have been taking medication for it ever since.
Most doctors I've seen for this have rarely done more than a physical examination and a shoulder shrug, but I have a friend who had a mild stroke at 27 and told me this sounds like what was experiencing.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
