You mentioned that you feel numbness on your feet. Has it affected you physically?
Well I had a TIA on Jan. 3, 2013 and was in the hospital for 3 days and ever since I have had trouble with the easiest things my concentration is awful I have tried to reason why and how could this happen. Maybe it has been my fault because I did not take care of myself I do not know I dwell too much in the past. Because I have lost my family due to all of this. First I was hurt on the job then I have been in pain since 2009 when I split my long head bicep and hurt my back I can no longer work like I did before it is if I am no good to anyone not even my daughter which I love so much. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to recover from this. This is how my TIA happened I was coaching my daughters basketball team but earlier in the day. I had blurred vision in one eye then in both I really was not under too much stress I was happy that my daughters team had practice that night and I would get to see her. In the middle of practice I notice my arm was feeling numb and then my right side I had tried to shake it off so I walked away and started to shake my body to get back some feeling and then I started to get the worst pain in my life my head was throbbing and I could not shake it off so I immediately told my daughter that we should go as her and I got in my car and drove away I had to use my hand to push my leg and step on the brake that was the scariest thing ever I immediately stopped in the middle of the road and had her call her mother to come and drive us to her home. When I got to their house she told me to lay down and that maybe my headache would go away it did not and I told her to please take me to a hospital my head hurting like if it would explode as she drove me to the hospital we were pulled over for her taking a yellow light. She told the officer that I had not been feeling well and that we were headed to the hospital because she thought I was having a stroke he asked if I needed an ambulance and I said please I need to get to the hospital I could barely walk and think so when we got to the hospital I was admitted fairly quickly. Thank God. I could not speak I had a hardtime lifting my head and answering questions they did a ekg and other tests after the 3 days I was still dizzy for about 2 months and am still trying to cope I have short term memory loss and it is hard to cope with everything even though I look normal my brain just struggles all day long even with speech.
I was just told I've had a lot of little strokes (I assume TIA's) was so relieved to hear about the "jekell & Hyde" feelings..I was sure I was losing my mind! I can tear up over the smallest things, then be just fine and then the rage will come into my mind. I'm thinking of using duct tape on my mouth to keep the nasty retorts from popping out. ha Ya, my husband is starting to get a little frayed by all the me's he has to deal with.
I'm sorry you are experiencing all of this, but your post was so helpful to me.
Just came from my primary physician for a follow up and she noticed a bit of uneven smile as if my left facial has drooped a little. It's been 4 days since my initial attack but I still feel sensations of numbness in my left arm and face that come and go. My physician called their neurologist and she conveyed to me that it may just be after effect and will slowly dissipate; however, she said if any change in my speech pattern or some new symptom arises to get to the emergency immediately.
I hope and pray the numbness I feel dissipates soon and have no lasting effect.
I just experienced TIA last Friday, 5/24/2013 and was let out of the hospital the following day after all the test were done and the neurologist spoke to me and explained the test indicated no damage were found.
I still experience minor numbing of my left arm and feel like my left face is drooping specially in the morning when I wake up. Also my first night out of the hospital I felt headache in the left side of my head when I woke up in the middle of the night but was gone in morning when I woke. I do however feel not a headache but a heavy head feeling something is pressing on my forehead much like coming out of a sinus head cold. I'm trying to change my diet to loss weight now which I'm sure is the cause of my TIA.
I hope I will not have a lasting effect since it seems most of the post is worst than mine. I do have a pain in my right toe like a gout but I don't know if that's associated with TIA.
