Hope that you are still there.  I just wrote you a long response on my other posting.  If you don't see it, let me know.  I highly recommend the Botox injections since a doctor recommended it to me if I got pain in my legs years later after my stroke.

And you need to be brutally honest about your pain and find a pain management doctor who can prescribe far more intense, but highly regulated pain killers that regular doctors are afraid to give due to the regulations.

Hang in there.  You have NOT tried everything.  Don't give up.  My prayers are with you.

Sorry I posted a comment on your post, but I forgot to hit reply button.  Im sorry to say, that I have found NOTHING that works, and Ive done everything under the sun.  Its nerve pain due to brain damage (stroke).   there is nothing that can be done to the brain if it gets damaged.  I wish with every fibre of my body, that your husband will find some relief... It *****..a lot.  I am unable to walk from my living room to my bed room with out assistance and Im not even 30 yet... Im sorry but to me the only relief will be death...that I must struggle for 40 years to get there.

Im  in same boat for most part.  I had a very instant, and severe stroke. (about 10 seconds from feeling fine, to not able to speak a word, and right side was dead to me.)  I was able to recoup ok, but now I have such bad pain in my right side.  Started at knee and elbow and spread down towards foot, and hand.  I can bearly walk, and I am ALWAYS in pain...alot of pain.  I tried lyrica, but suffered from a few serious side effects, tried ampitripline (i know spelling is off,,,its anti deperessent) but it doesnt to anything for the pain what so ever... My doctor keeps doubling the dose of that, while we try other medications (just got put on gabatin)  Wish I had an answer for any one, but I have not found ANY releif what so ever. I got diagnosed about a year ago, been suffering for about 2 and a half years... I cant even have my wife touch the effected side.  Was 24 when I had the big one, a few tias after words, and am 29 now.  ****** thing, when Im surrounded by loving, beautiful people, and the thing I think the most, is the different methods I could attempt to kill myself to get away from this pain.  There is no glory in this.

I also take vicodin for the pain and stiffness on my entire right side. I also take tramadol, which takes the edge of the pain when I am working. Right now I only take vicodin at night. God bless...

Is there any releif for this?
My husband has tried cymbalta, perscribed by his neurologist. It did not allow him to sleep, so they perscribed different anti depressive drug that does not seem to be helping either. His symptoms are stiffness and muscle tightness only on the affected side. He says that it feels like a tight rubberband around his shoulder and arm. No pain in his leg,but stiffness.

The night he had this stroke, the symptoms were so slight. I called 911- the paramedics checked his blood pressure, his blood sugar, heart and said everything was normal.
He stayed home. Went to work the next morning(operating a Bulldozer), he called me at noon and said he was having a little trouble walking. After being admitted to the hospital with a stroke , he was also diagnosed with  high blood pressure, and type 2 diabetes, as well as high coleserol. He is on medication for all of this. I am wondering is this cause, or affect?,and is there any releif for the stiffness. He is back to work full time, but it is a struggle. He is 76 .

Please respond!

I am on the same medications after the stroke i had 2 yrs ago. I am in severe pain as well. the only thing that has helped has been vicodin. I take 2 500mg at a time, two or three times a day. good luck to you and your husband.
