WHAT? A year for an MRI scan? Is this in the USA? I've never heard of that. MRI results can be processed in the same day.
hi
my dad was only in hospital for 4 days and when he came home he was in a worse condition, but my mums been told they could wait up to a year for the mri scan.
he does have sweetners as he his diabetic, but his been useing them for at least 2 years, nothing had realy changed before, and he dosent drink coffee.
co-dydramol is what the doctor has given him for the headaches.
many thanks

It is my understanding that when a hemoragic stroke occurs, one may get a real bad headache. In my wife's case it was "the worst pain I have ever had". As she recovered in the hospital for 3 weeks and 3 weeks in rehab, her headaches remained but I don't think they were as severe as when she first had her stroke (hours after the bleed).
It seems to be common that the most recover from a stroke will accure in the first 3 months. The rate of recover should continue after that but at a slower pace.
There may be several reasons for his headaches. Certainly, a MRI or a MRA should be considered.
Are they giving him anything for the pain and if so, what? Does he drink coffee? Use a sugar substitue? Does he have a sinus problem? Did anything change in his life just before this?
hi
no still waiting for the mri scan
the stroke he had was a posterior circulation stroke, was on the doctors letter.
yesterday the headache was so bad they had the call out doctor, but blood pressure was normal, so he's put it down to my dad stressing, but his not, his only problem is this headahce, the one thing i did find is my dad is saying where the pain is, is it keeps moveing, but all acrost his forhead.
he did lose some vision to his eye with this stroke, and i'am thinking maybe eye strain. i just dont know, and i dont think his doctor dose, his told him that after 3 weeks he wont recover any more, but i know that is wrong, he also seam's to think headaches are nothing to do with stroke's, but everything you read say there quiet commen with strokes
many thanks for your post

Has he had the MRI yet?
They say strokes and headaches are related but usually the headache must be severe.
I had a stroke at the age of 21 (3 months ago)and I suffered from really bad headaches. Since the stroke they took me off the Pill and I haven't had one as bad since, I have had small ones but not as bad.
