stroke....

I had a left cerebellar stroke in oct of 2007. I am 20 years old. They said it happened because of birth control and smoking. I really want to have another baby, but I am worried about what could happen. I have a 2 year old, and that pregnancy went perfect!! But I am worried about having another one. I have left side weakness when i dont get enough sleep, and i still have tingling in my left arm, but i take aspirin every day and check my blood pressure and it stays low. I just wanted a little advice on what to expect if i were to become pregnant so soon after the stroke....

I would be interested to hear what your doctors say...my stroke was caused by birth control pills(bcp) as well. I take Plavix and was wondering if it is safe to take during pregnancy. It is important for you to maintain your blood thinners b/c if your stroke was caused by the estrogen in the BCP's, your blood needs to be thin so the estrogen from the pregnancy won't cause more blood clots....my Dr. told me the most dangerous time for pregnant stroke survivors is the first 6wks of pregnancy and 6wks after delivery b/c that is when the estrogen in your body is going crazy!!

I had the same problem but at 22.  Birth control and smoking was what they told me caused it all.  They have me on prescription blood thinners now, instead of just asprin.  I was told when it happened that i should not try to have kids.  But I also cannot take birthcontrol and no doctor will tie my tubes because I am so young.  Now I am pregnant, I dont know what to do.  I am calling all of my doctors to try and find out if this is something that is possible or just too dangerous to try.
