Interestingly enough, I have had many cycles that were very short and just started charting. You could go look at my chart, but found that last cycle, I ovulated cycle day 8, 9, or 10!! I didn't temp on day 9 or 10 because I figured on ovulating way later, then when I temped again on day 11 I realized I had already ovulated!!! I even got EWCM 2 days after AF stopped, but it still didn't make me realize that I would actually ovulate that soon. Anyway, now that I know, I will definately start the BD right after AF!!
Charting is the only way you will know for sure if you ovulate early or if you have a luteal phase defect! I had a 16 day luteal phase, so I think my progesterone must be fine. I also had a very faint BFP on one day of pg testing, then nothing.... so maybe a chemical made the luteal phase longer, don't know for sure.
Hopefully this month I will get a real BFP so I won't be able to be sure if my luteal phase is usually that long!!
Baby Dust to everyone!!
Yeah, it does sound like your LP is too short, but usually that issue is easily resolved, w/B vitamins, & progesterone. It seems like yours is less than 11 days, & it should be at least 12-14......but you know this already;)
Heres to a bunch of 2010 BABIESSSSSSSSS for us YOUNG LADIES :)
Thats interesting hun maybe i should speak to my GYN and find out.Yeh defo hope we all have BFP's in abundance xxx
I too had my CD21 test that showed I ovulated & my levels must've been good (test done by RE), but my GYN says that I have an LP Defect, which I tend to agree. At any rate...I'm going to have more test to confirm. Here's hoping BFP's in abundance 2010.
Hi hun thanks for that. What you said reguarding progesterone well i had a test done on day 21 of my cycle and it confirmed that my levels were within normal range and that i do ovulate.I am relatively new to all the fertility information but i am a lot more informed now and i know much more about it all, with the help from most of the ladies on here.At first all the abbreviation did not mean a thing to me but its amazing how you learn and start to understand things.I am truly grateful to everyone on here and i really dont know where i would be without all the help and advice i have recieved thank you very much hun xxx
I have always had very regular cycles (even during breast feeding!!!) Anyway, it's usually between 26-28 days, & I ALWAYS O between CD10-13 I have O'd ONCE in this past year like on CD15/16, & that cycle was a longer one for me (strange) 30 days.
Anyway, so I am right there w/ya;) Several of my cycles have been confirmed via US, + plus like you I too get the O symptoms, very easy for me to pinpoint.
I "think" the only "issue" w/early O, is that sometimes the follies don't mature enough, hence the eggie is really not ready;(
But this doesn't mean you can't get pg. I think as long as you bd RIGHT after you AF is done, & continue for 4-6 days after (at least 3x's) your timing is perfect;)
You LP is long enough, so I doubt you have any progesterone issues, but maybe you can ask to get a test 6-8 DPO to check on your progesterone levels, just to make sure;)
Good luck!

Hi thanks for the info hun.Yeh my cycle is usually between 25/27 days more commonly 26 same as yourself. But i am starting to think i ovulate much earlier around day 5-7 just after AF has gone.I know its strange but if i am correct thats why its been difficult to concieve,so i need to look into things more carefully now.So that would also make my luteal phase longer at around 18/19 days? Its difficult enough for me to concieve but even more so with the fact my fiance works away 3 weeks at a time,so im even more stressed about it all.Anyway thank you x
Hey Bev...
I was just informed by my GYN Doc, that if you have a "Short Cycle", it indicates a Luteal Defect. I cycle anywhere from 25-27 (more commonly-26 days)...and have had 24 days...usually 1-2 per year.
I get an LH surge every month...usually CD15, but can be anywhere from (CD15-17), which means my Lp runs anywhere from 9-11 days, which isn't good. It may be something you want to check...for an LP Defect, just to make sure you don't have one.

Hi there,
I understand that the luteal phase lasts 14 days, so if you have a 25/26 day cycle, you would count back 14 days. Which would mean that you likely ovulate on Day 11 or 12. Why do you think that you didn't ovulate on those days? It's good to BD before that day as well, so you have the swimmers waiting.
Because of my recurrent pregnancy losses and my antibodies issue, I've been going in for monitoring by an RE. My ultrasounds and bloodwork show that my ovulation date varies, from Day 11-13. Even with u/s and b/w, they can't exactly pinpoint ovulation, they just measure the LH surge and follicle size. Once you surge, you ovulate up to 36 hours afterwards.
So I think it's just best to BD most days from CD10-17 to cover your bases!
Best of luck to you!
