Just wondering how many of us are active on this thread now

My husband and I are both 43 and decided to start conceiving in April, we turned 43 in May actually.
We have 3 children now, ages 22, 14 and 11, and really want one more :)
We just started in May, so we're still trying naturally and hoping. What a roller coaster!
I'm trying not to let the statistics get me down..this is our 3rd month trying so I'll probably be making an appoint. to get referred to a specialist after this cycle. It'll be nice to know where we stand.
Is anyone here trying naturally or recently conceived without intervention?
My periods are pretty regular, within a day or two each month. My family Dr. is optimistic and has a couple pregnant clients my age who conceived naturally. A good friend of mine told me she has 2 friends in their 40s who both recently had babies , and my cousin who is 11 months younger than me just had her baby in March. And, that's just people I know of so the statistics don't ring true to me.
I've been taking folic acid, pre-natal vit.s, vit. B6, and 81mg of aspirin since we started trying. I think I'm going to start drinking more water too..Anyone try anything else?
Baby dust over everyone!! :O)

I had an ultra sound as on clomid and they wanted to see whats going on before i took second lots of pills- but i have to wait now for dr analysis as the sonographer couldnt make out if i was mid cycle and about to ovulate or if it was a cyst again on right ovary(had a cyst before that does go away) anyway becaue i dont have a regular cycle its difficult to tell. The follicle was 20mm and she said my lining was not thin but not ultra thick so indicated i was about to ovulate. I personally think its this damn cyst againthat has flared up and clomid is no good or me,have to wait till nex thurs to speak with own dr, any thoughts appreciated, many thanks melissax

I'm 43 and 11 weeks pregnant.  I have a daughter who will be 16 in November and I never thought I'd be pregnant again.  Tried clomid in my early 30's but it didn't work.  This past january I had d&c to remove fibroids that were causing heavy bleeding and clotting.  No sex for january and febuary due to the surgery and I end up pregnant in July.  Found out I had ovulated early too since I'm further along than I should be given my last period.  I was extremely anemic in January (had half the normal count of red cells) so they put me on an iron supplement I think called Ferralet which had folic acid.  Maybe that helped?  I also have a co-worker who was going through fertility treatments at the time and she now is pregnant with twins and one week ahead of me.  So maybe her hormones influenced me in some way?  Who knows, I just think this is a miracle for me.  Now I'm just afraid of the risks and am awaiting to first trimester test which I'll have in about a week.   I've always been healthy, no smoking or drinking and eat lots of veggies (except now due to morning sickness).

I am 45 soon to be 46 in a few days.  I recently miscarried twice.  Both times I used clomid to get pregnant.  I had my second child with my second husband when I was 43 and am really hoping for one more.  I scheduled my first appt. with an RE.  I am hoping they can help us conceive again.  I have not been trying naturally since I am getting older and I have less time to make it happen.  Good luck to all of you!

We are still trying. I'm now 42 and we've been trying since June 2009. We've had 1 miscarriage and 2 canceled IUIs. The RE now says our only chance is to catch that one good egg naturally or donor eggs. We might be getting a 2nd opinion at another RE, we'll see how it goes. I'm now just trying to get my cycles more regular and trying naturally. And we're praying for a miracle!
Good luck to you all!

Very encouraging story to give us hope-I do not have regular periods but have had tests and am def not menopausal, at 42, 4 unsuccessful ivf's we are still trying au naturel and your words hav def made me feel more up today-we will keep on trying but also try and switch off a bit.As i did conceive 3 years ago with Alfie, I know its not impossible and I wasnt having periods then either(i am of low body weight)-to have a sibling would be the icing on the cake but OFCOURSE WE HAVE OUR MIRACLE ALFIE. Hope your little boy is bringing you such joy, all my love melissaxxx

I just turned 44 and just had my little boy in April.   He's 4 months old today, so yes I got pg at 43.   We started trying at 41, had 2 m/c's and then turned to fertility meds.   Tried that for a year and had no sucess.

We just about ready to turn to donor eggs when I got pg again ( the good ol fashioned way).  I figured I would just m/c again like before, but I didn't.   He's a happy healthy little boy.    Keep trying, my story was just like yours.   Regular periods, slightly elevated FSH and it happened.   Took awhile, but it DID happen.

good luck to you and stay in the game, we aren't too old yet, there are many 43 y/o's out there on this site having babies.

Hello, we too are trying for our second child, I am just 42 and had our first at 38 years, he was a miracle as we thought due to previous eating problems I would never conceive naturally. But I did and Alfie is now 2 3/4 years old- since he was 6 months old we have tried for a sibling and last year spent out(£18000) on 3 ivf's-all unsuceessful. we also had one more ivf this year and again negative. So now we are trying au naturel again, and although i dont menstruate often, I know I do ovulate sometimes hence having Alfie(i wasnt having periods when he was conceived)chances are very low, my dr has put me on clomid to aid ovulation  but we know a second miracle is more than we could ever hope for. But stranger things have happened.I too am taking folic acid, vit b6 and just hoping!  my best wishes to you and your husband, do update with any progress, love Melissa (from England)
