Hyperpigmentation and Sun

I have hyperpigmentation, I heard a rumor that if you go into the sun or tanning bed or whatever to wear the lightest SPF sunscreen and to expose your face to the light and it will lighten the scars, is that true?

Acne scars and scars in general will fade over time. Many times we worry about marks on our skin and think everyone notices them or looks at them, when it is only us who pay attention to these "imperfections" we have. Truthfully, no one else really cares about the small scars everyone has, as no one has perfect skin. Plus, if the picture you have up is you, you can't notice a thing and you look pretty. I am being honest. Though if you really want to continue to try to erase or lessen the scars, you can look into over the counter products like certain face peels or scar minimizing products. Though I will warn you that many don't work and it becomes a bit of a waste of money. I have multiple scars all over my body from sports, surgeries, and other things that have gotten me hurt(random scars) and have tried a few different products with very little to no results. In all, it was better to learn to love my body as is, then to keep trying to change it. Take care.

alright i was out in the sun today and put some sun screen on. i'm just getting real annoyed with them because, well i wear face makeup with sunscreen in it so my face is so much more white than the rest of my body but the scars are still there. and the makeup doesn't really clog my pores or whatever. plus my acne really isn't that bad but i get random scars? i don't know. is there any other way to get rid of them? besides laser surgery or whatever?

Sun exposure on scars would do the opposite by darkening them, not lightening them. The scars color does fade over time, but you don't want to have it exposed to the sun for long periods of time and would want to avoid sun exposure.Scars are particularly sensitive to sunlight and can sunburn faster than healthy skin, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. Once a scar becomes sunburned, it can remain discolored or darkened and may not fade back to match the color of your healthy skin. For that reason, you would want to avoid the sun, wear protective clothing, and wear sun screen to protect your scar/skin.
