Puberty/ breast lump/ growth question

Hello. I'm the Mom of an 11 1/2 yr old daughter who is coming into puberty. In the last 6 months she's began to develop hips, and body odor and acne. She has not started her periods as yet...My question is about breast development...She is starting to get "buds" and, last week, she told me that one has a hard, sore lump underneath it. It under her nipple area and is about the size of a large flattened marble, and the surrounding area is not red or swollen. Is this a normal thing in development? (the other side is okay.) I don't recall experiencing this when I was her age...Anyone? ~MM

When I was younger I remember finding a lump. I got it checked out and the nurse explained it was just a reaction to my changing hormones and that it would come and go.

Yeah I don't think I experienced anything like that.... It could be nothing but you should be safe. You should get it checked out.

It sounds like it could just be a zit or something similar, but with these sort of things I don't think it is wise to sit around, go and get it checked out!! Better safe than sorry and its always better to catch these things early on. It doesn't sounds perfectly normal to me either.

If it were my daughter, I would have her checked out for this. It doesn't sound normal from what you describe.
