Strange Reaction to Everything

Now then, in order to ask my immediate question, I'll give a quick bit of med history. I assume because of my strange condition it will be useful :)

I was on Zoloft to treat depression when I was in my mid teens, but found it was flattening me and made the unwise decision to go cold turkey. For a couple of years afterwards I was experiencing 'brain flutters', despite my doctor saying that there should be no side effects from the drug and it had all left my system.

A number of years ago (I am now 19) I discovered with my dentist that I am very susceptible to Nitrous Oxide, only requiring a child's dosage to put me almost completely under. I am not small statured, although I have a high metabolism and have difficulty gaining weight.

I recently discovered that alcohol has a strange effect on me as well. I feel sick if I drink too much, but my senses aren't impaired. I wake up the morning after with a small headache, but nothing major. The day AFTER however, I have a full blown hangover. By the end of this first day, I feel almost fine, so the second coming feels quite strange.

My current issue (seems at the moment) is a bit more serious. Last night I took a few puffs of Mary Jane, which I had never tried before. Nothing seemed to happen, so I let it rest and didn't touch it again that night. About 4 hours earlier I had a beer, which seemed like a decent amount of time to wait in between. I felt fine the rest of the night, came home, went to sleep, and woke up the next morning feeling fine still. However, I began to experience some effects at 3pm today. My head felt a bit light when I was out with a friend, but I assumed I was just tired or sick. We went to see a movie, where I started feeling more sick. This progressed until now at 2am I am unable to get to sleep, am paranoid about dying, am shaking slightly, slightly dizzy, but not feeling any of the described 'tripping' feelings of the drug.

Is this a reaction to the marijuana, and how is it possible for it to be so delayed? I intend to avoid it from now on, but I need to know why this is happening.

Alright, that helps :)

I managed to find somewhere I felt comfortable to sleep, so I managed to get some shut-eye. The thing I'm worried about now is the delay in the effects. I mean, it took 24 hours to do anything, and it was only a few deep breaths. I would have posted this in the Doctors section, but whenever I try there have been too many questions posted already for the day. Kind of irritating that 20 people can ask the same question and have it posted, but my rather unique situation has to wait...

I would take a trip down to my GP, but it doesn't seem serious enough to pay for a consult.

Hey there, sounds like some nasty feelings.....When I was your age (I'm 43 now) I smoked pot nearly everyday and absolutely it can make you feel paranoid and shaky and anxious all kinds of bad ****.  My first panic attacks were after smoking pot - I hate to even remember it.  I quit when I was 17 and it made a big difference.

It stays in your system for 72 hours so you could still be feeling it the next day easily.   Gotta love those sleepless nights - have plenty of those myself.   Take care, Erin

Just a small update. It's now 3am, and I am still unable to get to sleep. However, I do appear to be experiencing 'the munchies'. I don't have any of the food I'm craving though...
