no periods

i am 17 years old and i recently gained quite a bit of weight, my periods have completely stopped and i haven't had one for at least 9 months now. I am not pregnant. is there a chance that my periods will come back if i lost weight, and if so will i still be able to get pregnant?

There are a number of possible reasons for not having a period and you should make a doctor's appointment to find out what is going on. Sudden weight gain is one possible cause for not having a period, but that might also be in combination of another cause that is making you not have your period. Once the doctor finds out what is causing this, then you can go from there. If there is an issue with hormones, then the doctor will probably put you on the birth control pill to restart your period. Don't worry about whether or not you will be able to get pregnant in the future. This is not really an indication of your fertility. You have plenty of time in the far future to have children.
