Am I depressed? Should I get help?

A few months ago, I started to feel down but I thought it was fine, because like all the hormones.  It still could be hormones, without a doubt.  Its not like I have some degree in this stuff, I dont search it up on google much anymore either.  But, cutting to the chase, I have close friends, yeah, but I hide my sadness and loneliness too well that no one realizes unless it is a really bad day for me.  Really bad days for me are days when I just slowly slink everywhere, I dont like to talk anymore, I dont eat a full tray of lunch, I skip breakfast, I get more tempered about the littlest topics, etc.  My dad has even told me that I tend to not care much about anything that use to make me jump up and down.  My mom knows, but I cant bring myself to get a therapist.  Sorry,  I never know how to explain these things when I actually need to.  But , any suggestions?

Why are you avoiding therapy? There's no shame in getting help when you need it, and there are a lot of people who aren't even clinically depressed who benefit from therapy.  It's an opportunity to talk about anything and everything in a place where no one will judge you.

They're also pretty good at looking at situations objectively and helping you to make positive changes.  It's not all about medication, or even always about really deep, dark stuff.

It also doesn't have to be forever.  I saw a therapist (a counselor) when I was going through a really rough time in life.  I wasn't clinically depressed, but I was certainly having a hard time and was withdrawn and feeling very negative about life and the future.  I only went for a few months, and then I felt like I had a better perspective and could carry on with my life and improve it.

Not gonna lie - hormone changes can be a bear and wreak havoc on your mindset, mood, and can make you clinically depressed.  A professional can really help, and if you DO need meds, well, that is certainly better than living your life depressed.

If nothing else, keep talking to your mom about it, and if there's another adult you can trust (like a school counselor), getting a second opinion about your situation won't hurt.
