how do i overcome these problems?

im 16 and for the past few months i have been really down. Everything that has ever happened to me i don't really let it affect me as i feel i need to be strong and if im not it makes me seem weak.
Everybody thinks that im just a miserable teenager who doesnt have real problem but deep down i do. i see myself as a very deep person who thinks about things in great detail and sometimes even to much. about a year ago i was really depressed just because i had no confidence and i hated myself and a few months later my mum had a heart attack which to a point i blame myself because when it happened she didnt know what it was but she told me to go out and i did and then while she was in hospital for a month i was at home living on my own with no one to talk to.

after my mums recovery about 5 months ago someone i know did something to me i didnt want to happen but still to this day i cant come to terms and believe what actually happened and again i blame myself... after meeting my boyfriend he has made me such a happier person but still deep down inside when i have bad days i always think about what has happened in the past and blame myself and me being down does last for a while.... i need help ... is this normal?

sorry for going on, i would appreciate some advice if you have any, thank you.

also, I don't think that Captin_Rit meant any harm with his words. He just said it sounds like your depressed and counceling will help. I don't think he was being mean or intentionally trying to offend you... just trying to give you some advise, that is what we are all her for.....Take care and let us how you are doing...Judy

Hi! Please don't blame yourself for your mothers heart attack. Your mother probably had heart issue due hereditary. My mother died in my arms on July 19, 2007. She had heart desease and diabities, but it was not my fault that her heart was growing until there was no more room for it to grow. We are not God...we can do the best that we can, but we can not give them there life when God calls.  Also, if you live in the past, you will never be happy. The past is the past and tomorrow is another day...the future. If  you need counceling for what someone has done to you, please be brave enough and talk with your school nurse, a councelor or  possibly a teacher.  They will give you the help that you need and always...always value yourself and don't worry what anyone says or thinks about you. A friend is someone who will like you just the way you are, so seek out people who like you for you. This will help your self confidence and remembet that no one is better than you. The people who think they are better than other people are the one with the most problems inside (beauty is only skin deep), it's the inside that counts, so get yourself back to accepting what you can't change and working towards a better you. Stay in school, surround your self with positive people who like you. Also, a regular doctor can give you someting for depression and no one needs to know about it. Medication will help give you the mental balance that you need to make you feel ok one day at a time. Also, I have a question for you. Was it your fault what has happened to you? NO...you can't control other people and you don't have to take it either. Talk with a councelor to help  sort out your feelings and you will be ok. Self hate will be like blinders to life, so start appreciating what you do have and change your path around....you can do it. Good Luck. Judy

Hey, the past is the past, and don't think for one minute that any of that stuff is your fault. Sure, alot of people have there ups and downs, and what you can do is get engaged in things that you love to do, maybe hang with your boyfriend more, your freinds, there is plenty out there for you to focus your mind on so all of those bad thoughts don't come back. Don't blame yourself for anyting that is probably not your fault. You should try what i said, i did, and it worked
