Abnormal Period

Why would a women's period last abnormally long (over a week and 2 days) and be darker and musty in color?

I'm on Loestrin 24, and i normally have a really light period that last a day, maybe 2, but this time its a really heavy flow (which i didn't have before i started taking it) and horrible cramping, and its a really dark musty red that sometimes looks brownish. Why? Is there any reason or something i should worry about?

its more than likely cuz of the med birth control con make you have a heavier and darker period it con also make you have a longer period its just your body trying to get use to it and you should get back on track in like a week or so. so by the next time you have your period it should either be back to the norm or like it was this time but its gonna take awhile for your body to get use to it

It could be a very early miscarriage, or a lot of other things.  You should probably talk to your doctor about this.
