the egg doesn't go into the fetus. the egg IS the baby. Once the sperm meets egg that means it is fertilized and it begins its trip through the fallopian tubes to the uterus where it then implants to the lining. (Reason for periods. When the unfertilized egg dies and the body has to shed the uterine lining and expel the dead egg and prepare for the next months ovulation.) that trip takes roughly 2 weeks. Once the egg does implant it can cause a light bleeding/spotting which can last 1-4 days.
