TMJ and Ear issues ever since dental work!

Ever since I've had a root canal (tooth number 30) and dental crowns placed (#30 & #31), I have had nothing but issues with my ears. I've experienced hearing loss, have tinnitus and definitely have some balance issues of some sort. Sometimes I get dizzy in movie theaters and heights. I decided to get new dental crowns to see if this solved the issue and while it did not solve them, it made a drastic improvement. However, the issues still persists.. along with some neck pain.

I feel as if my jaw is now not aligned properly and clench at night sometimes. I've had a nightguard made, but it seems to make things worse at times and during the day (after wearing the guard at night), the muscles in the right side temple do not seem to be falling into the correct place. I also have seen 3 different ENTs, who cannot locate the problems and just shrug it off as "age related hearing loss" (despite me always protecting my ears).

I'm convinced this issue is related to my dental work and would like to know what next step I need to seek and if anyone else has experienced these problems, and if they ever went away. Thanks!

I too have what I believe are severe tmj problems.  I have been seeing Dr after Dr for migraines, tinnitus, facial pain, neck, shoulder, upper and lower back pain.  All of which I discovered can be associated with tmj.  I asked my Dr to put me on a short course of steroids for the inflammation and I do see an improvement.  I refuse to go to the dentist until I can get this under control and then only in an emergency.  I practice good dental health at home.

I also suffer from internal tremors but doubt that this is a symptom of tmj.

Hope this helps and any info you have would be appreciated

Have your dentist (or another dentist) check the height of the crowns......they may be too high and throwing your bite off, which in turn could cause some jaw problems. TMJ problems can cause ear issues.  After consulting the dentist I'd go to a chiropractor that has tmj training. As well, consult another ENT or a Audiologist. Good luck.
