I've found that dry needling and physical therapy can rework the muscles in the region, helping loosen what my therapist and I assume are adhesions and myofascial problems all around my left ear/cheek/jaw and even related to my left trapezius that was knotted up. The muscle involuntarily bent a needle that she placed in one of those knots because it was clenched up like a ping-pong ball. Nearly ruined from years of misuse and clenching, but fighting my way back. Resistance training with bands is part of it too.

Osteopath or chiropractor practitioner may be competent to perform tmj joint play.
Thanks so much for your comment I really appreciate it. I am having a hard time figuring out what all this means and the dentists where I live are clueless. What would manual manipulation consist of?
Restricted range of motion of left joint may be conservatively managed by manipulative therapy. If manual manipulation does not restore range of motion, you may need arthrocentesis treatment.
