diagnosed with tmj but dont think it is

to whom it may concern,
I am a 23 year old female with left lower mouth pain where the wisdom tooth should be, i went to an oral surgeon today who said he thinks its tmj but told me that the left lower wisdom tooth is impacted and in the bone near the jaw, im am thinking that it is my wisdom tooth that is causing the problem but he doesnt think so. he thinks its tmj
what do any of you think it is. it's really painful and annoying i would just rather have the wisdom tooth extracted because he said it probably has to come out any way.
any help would be appreciated

Impacted lower wisdom tooth is rarely the culprit of temporomandibular disorder. However, removal of impacted wisdom tooth yields long term dental denefits.

throbbing is usually a sign of an infection, or abscess. check your temp, if you are running alow grade temp. I would say you have an abscess, it could be soft tissue(only gums) or hard tissue ( inside the bone, or tooth) ,
closer examination is advised. x-rays of the upper and lowers on the same side is advised. It is possible to have referred pain from top to bottom or vice versa..
Hope this helps.
