insurance coverage for TMJ

does anyone have any suggestions on getting insurance to cover tmj problems? i have a bad overbite and it is what has caused my TMJ..but my insurance plan booklet says TMJ treatment is excluded from the benefits.
is anyone aware of any companies that DO cover the treatment? my husband and i are newly married and there is no way that i can afford phase 1 or 2 treatment.
we live in alabama..i am assuming that it is not required by law for insurance companies to cover TMJ, as BCBS of AL does not.
any help is appreciated. my dentist told me my problem will only deteriorate without treatment and i am at a loss for what to do as we have no money.

I too am having a problem with insurance for tmj treatment. It seems like a very bad shortfall of the medical system it's self! My insurance will cover a MRI but only if the problem is caused by inflammatory arthritis. Then I dont know who I would even take the MRI to...a arthritis doctor? Who know's about jaw's?
What are we suppose to do? I guess go to the hospital when your jaw dislocates or you cant eat anymore?  This makes me so angry!
