Wow, quite a tale.. I am sorry you had to endure all this. It is a terrible thing to loose all teeth at thhis young age. Of course , I am not familiar with the details of the case to second guess the treatment plan, but I do wonder about the extraction of 6 healthy teeth. Well what's done is done..at this point it seems to me that the palat of the denture is a bitt too long and needs to be trimmed, thats why you have difficulty swallowing, Just don't stop with the ice and anti inflamatories.your bone will reshape tremndously over the next 4 months and the denture will have to be refitted at that point.
As a suggestion if and when you can get some implants into your upper arch.. you have many years ahead of you and your bone will not be there in ten years and you will have many years to contend with a poor fitting and ill functioning denture.
All the best
thank you for your comment. The bleeding finally stopped around 6 pm last night. A little expected periodic bleeding overnight, but nothing bad. I contacted my surgeons office, and tomorrow I am supposed to pick up a prescription to get me through the weekend. In an hour I go to the place that made my dentures, and get them adjusted, and hopefully that will allow for easier swallowing as well as more food intake. The reason for the extractions is complicated. I had all four wisdom teeth that were impacted taken out(my lower left one is the one giving me the majority of my pain post surgery and even before), on top of that originally the surgery was just to include the four wisdoms, plus an impacted adult tooth that had cutt off nerves to six of my top front teeth, b/w that and pregnancy and a left titanium plate on my left orbital I had put in a couple yrs ago, led to the decay of those six teeth. One was tooth H, which was still a baby tooth that had never come out, therefore the result was the impacted tooth embedded in my gum, which was starting to also cut through the roof of my mouth. So originally 11 teeth in total were to be taken out, however when I went to get fitted for my partial, b/w my mouth being so small, and the very bad overbite I have, they were not going to be able to fit a partial, so that's when they called the surgeon and said I needed the other six top teeth(despite being healthy)taken out. Which led to the total of 17. I am not happy about having to have them taken out(all of my top ones)but I know it was necessary and must accept it and adjust to life with dentures. I have never done drugs, so that was not a reason if you were curious, but it was to the point that I looked like I had meth mouth, just b/c it progressed very quickly over the last two years, especially after the birth of my youngest. I just didn't have the money to get it fixed, and fixed properly until now. Please notify me of any symptoms I should watch out for, and what to expect over the next few days. Thanks again!
If you have any questions and concerns you should go back to your surgeon .. you have a very involved medical history and I am sure the surgeon took all that into consideration. I am not even gonna get into what is a 25 yr old doing extracting all teeth..
ohh, must mention only 25 yrs. old, also have been on Bactrim, for sever burn on arm I sustained a week ago, as well as just started Detrol, and the Depo shot a few weeks ago. Have been on narcotics for a couple months now b/w fibrocystic breast pain, as well as the second/third degree, and the pain in my teeth prior to surgery. Could any of these be a factor in the bleeding issue?-Red
