Alcohol Consumption

What is the effect on blood levels with almost total thyroid removal while taking no medication for it?  Can it raise the blood levels due to the fact that it can not metabolize like a person with a normal thyroid?

Possible slower alcohol metabolism in this case -- but my main concern would be why you are not on medications if you have had total thyroid removal -- would see your doctor to get back on meds and re-evaluate the situation as severe hypothyroidism can be life-threatening.

I was on medication after removal surgery but my prescription lapsed and it was not renewed.  I let it go, the doctors didn't realize and somehow it just fell through the cracks and got lost in the shuffle.  Needless to say, I am now back on regular thyroid medication.  I greatly appreciate your information to my question and if you have any additional insight, I would welcome it.  Thank you very much!
