I have started using Alli, I have Hashimotos and Hypothyroid. I have had no trouble, actually my bowel movments were pretty messed up anyway, ranging from loose to constipated, Alli has actually helped make me more regular and no diaharea. I do have more gas sometimes, but again I wasn't perfect before. I have been on it about 3 weeks now and do notice some positive improvements to my abdomen area. I excercise a lot anyway, I play tennis everyday and have horses, etc. I would say each individual needs to try it and see how it works with them.
Would take thyroid med separate from Alli -- most patients will end up using Alli before lunch and dinner so if the thyroid med is taken first thing in am, should not be a problem but would check TSH 6-8 weeks after starting Alli.
Alli's success will depend on strict adherence to a low fat (<10g/meal) diet. Portion control and regular exercise are the cornerstones to long-term success with weight.
well for those of us that have struggled with alot of weight gain.......Alli could be a blessing.....I intend to take it, side effects or not! Just my opinion!
Alli has horrible side effects. I gained a lot of weight due to hypo/Hashimotos, and finally started Weight Watchers. It took me a year to lose 75 pounds, but am now healthier, and keeping the weight off. I have heard there is horrible uncontrolled diarrhea and gas with the Alli pill.
It is probably not recommended to take any diet pills, but of course ultimately this is up to you! I recommend better dosage on your medicine, a balanced diet with lots of fruits, vegetables, some lean or low fat protein, some whole grains and complex carbs, plenty of water, juicing, weight lifting, aerobic exercise and good rest/sleep. Diet pills are not recommended... they are not safe and confuse our bodies which are already off balance anyway. I understand that the extra weight is frustrating, but I still would not take the pills. That is just my recommendation. I wish you good luck!
