I had a u/s of my thyroid done on Wednesday and have a f/u with my ENT on Monday. Until then, I am very worried and scared. Can anyone help me interpret these findings so I can understand them better? Any insight would be wonderful. Thanks!
The right lobe of the thyroid gland measures approx. 1.6 x 1.7 x 4.5 cm. Within the loqwe pole there is a predominately hypoechoic 0.2 x 0.2 x 0.4 mm nodule. There is a punctate focus on increased density identifed within this nodule without definite posterior acoustic shadowing. This finding is nonspecific though may represent microcalcification. The remaining right lobe appears hemogenous in architecture.
The left lobe measures approx. 1.4 x 1.5 x 4.0 cm. Within the lower pole there is a heterogeneously echogenic solid nodule measuring approx. 1.0 x 0.7 x 1.2 cm. This nodule does not contain calcifications or increased vascularity. The remaining left lobe appears hemogenous in architecture.
The isthmus measures approx. 4.7 mm in AP dimention.
It goes on to say that a biopsy of the larger nodule is recommended.
