I am trying right now to get into an endocrinologist but I'm curious if anyone is plagued with the same problem as me. I have been diagnosed with Grave's. I have a goiter which isn't obscenely large but its noticeable. I am plagued with breathing problems. I gasp and even when I can breathe in fully (most of the time it feels as if something is causing my breath to stop halfway) it feels as though im not getting enough oxygen. I get tingling limbs quite often. Dizziness is also a problem as is the fact that I maybe have menstruation 3 times a year. I have been given the radioactive drink a year and a half ago and at first it seemed to work but now its worse than before. I am trying to figure out if surgery may be my best option as I have other health problems which my Graves aggravates. I just started university when it started getting bad again and its causing me nothing but problems. Im concerned I may even have to quit school. If anyone has any info they think i might find help please share.

Hi, I had an enlarged multinodular goitre which didn't affect my voice but made me out of breath and if I lay on my back I'd feel like I couldn't get enough air. I was also hyperthyroid and was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease where my immunity system was attacking my thyroid.Last month I had a total thyroidectomy, so just wanted to give you some reassurance regarding that operation.  I woke up from the Operation with a drain tube out of my neck, but absolutely no pain. I was out of the hospital on the second day and gave my daughter away at her wedding on the third day. I went back to work one week later, but for three weeks post op my voice was deep and husky and I couldn't get any high notes, couldn't even put any expression into my voice. My scar looks much better than I thought it would and when it fades a bit, will be hardly noticeable.  I do get a tight feeling in my throat as the wound heals but no pain at all. Hope everything goes well for you both. Good luck Shellsa with your op.

the ent is probably right -- the ent looks directly at the vocal cords in order to determine the cause.

hey just a question, do you have arthritis? i guess there are little joints in the (please excuse spelling) cycoid joint near the voice box, and if there is swelling there then i guess that can cause the horse voice, i was just told this by my RA doctor that this is why they think i am having such a problem. something to think about
