High Blood Pressure

I have had this thyroid disorder with Synthroid 30 years. I also take Estratest HS and aspirin. Concern is now have high blood pressure and irregular heart rate periodically.  I had IV iron in my veins 5 years ago. I took Phosphorus and calcium which seemed to set off the high blood pressure after a long period of low/normal BP. Now Dr's are suspect of adrenal tumor. Is that likely with this history or did the the IV iron cause the problem. I also take Toprol XL when HBP occurs but gives me chest pain and does not really help irregular heart beat that much even though BP goes very low.  Tested saliva for cortisol levels, came back low but blood test for same said normal. Now waiting result of urine test for tumor on adrenals.  Is this tumor idea likely or do you see another cause for HBP episodes due to my history?  Thanks for any input you may have.

My doc put me on Metaprolol which is generic for Toprol XL. She said I had high bloodpressure, which was actually from me being hypothyroid. I took 1 pill of 25mcgs of metaprolol and it dropped my pulse rate to 54. I felt very dizzy and light headed.

This stuff is great for someone who has hyperthyroidism. Now since my Armour has been increased, I do not have the high bloodpressure.

this is not likely a cortisol overproduction - based on low salivary cortisol.  Urine test for other adrenal issues sounds reasonable but unlikely to explain the HTN.  A blood test for renin and aldosterone may have already been done (I would think).  I doubt the synthroid is causing BP problems -- unless the TSH is too low (ie you are getting too much synthroid).  IV iron does not usually cause HTN that I am aware of.  An evaluation for kidney disease may make sense.
