Sounds like vertigo. This is not common with thyroid problems - and if your levels are normal, it is even more difficult to make the connection between thyroid and persistent 'dizziness'.
Reactive hypoglycemia can cause light-headedness, sweating, nausea --- these are relieved by eating. Usually it is not a "room spinning" dizziness in these patients.
Ooops! I submitted that too soon. I plan on going through the Mayo for all of the ALS testing, but saw there is a link between the symptoms for the two diseases. Does this brief history sound like hypertyroidism to you? Thank you for your time.
I am a 38 year old mother currently waiting to be seen by a neuro because for the last month I have had a constant resting tremor in my hands, arms, legs, tongue and trunk. I also have had fatigue and muscle twitches in all of those muscles this has also resulted in coordination problems. Any small amount of stress exagerates the fine fasiculations into an episode that I can hardly walk. These fine tremors and muscle twitches keep me awake many nights. I have family history of ALS. Grandma and two siblings and my mom's cousin had it. Two other family members are being tested now. Is there a chance this could be hyperthyroidism?
I had a neg. MRI done and my HST was .5. I noticed that tremors can come from hyperthyroidism. I am 40 pounds over weight and do not have a goiter. I am more irritable with noise and light in my eyes. We do not know of any thyroid problems in the family. My body does not do well with delivering a baby, stress, surgery, or medicine. Weak stomach, dairy allergy, asthma, colds, bronchitis, dry brittle hair that is falling out, crave sweets, caffinne and sugar to stay awake. Startle easily.Had a terrible car accident last August. Noticed symptoms beginning after that. Got much worse in January when we almost lost my mother at 54 to a heart attack. More stress before this episode in March. I also have a history of boils on my back, herpes and a hysterectomy for a prolapsed uterus.
Thank you for your response. It is not vertigo. I have had that testing as well. Will keep trying.
