Looking for a Endocrinologist in NJ

Hello, It has been recommended to me that I have the Thyroid removed (I have a scheduled surgury date of the Jan 31, 2006 since my biopsy came back suspicious) and I need to seek out an Endocrinologist in my area. The throat specialist that I'm currently seeing recommended two Endocrinologists but they are not in my network (insurance) and going out of network is not supported at all in my plan. If anyone could recommend one within the NJ area (spcifically central NJ) I would appreciate it greatly.

I have been to the website http://www.thyroid-info.com/topdrs/newjersey.htm and found 2 different physicians but had very little feedback.

If somone could also provide a few guidelines so when I  speak with them I'm asking the right questions and receiving the proper information.

Thank you all in advance

If you go to About.com and under health-thyroid - look under top docs list.  There is one in Cherry Hill (I think) who sounds real good.  I looked it up for my sister. I use to live in south Jersey. Dr. Jenkins, I think.

I lived in north jersey. I found a thyroid nodule two months ago. Since then, I tried to find an endocrinologist in our area under my HMO insurance. It is very difficult. And it takes long time to get appointment. But I finally found some doctors in New York city who take my insurance. Just based on the website, it seems that this center has a lot experience on thyroid. Try the following link: http://cpmcnet.columbia.edu/dept/thyroid/

Good luck with your surgery.

I live in Montreal, Canada and was been following by Dr. Enrique Silva who used to practice at the Sir Mortimer B. Davis Hospital in Montreal. To my utter disappointment, Dr. Silva moved to Massachusettes in October 2005. He was the best MD I've ever been treated by and highly recommend his expertise and/or recommendations. I believe that Mass is next door to Jersey and if I were you, I would travel to the best for that type of procedure.
