My Thyroid

Good afternoon doc. I'm a 34 year old male, non-smoker, very rarely drinks and has a bad case of health related anxiety on some occasions.

So here's my story.

I found what looked like a little growth of some kind on my tonsil about 3 years ago. Went to an ENT, he didn't see it then he saw it and ordered a CT scan. The CT scan came back fine for my tonsils and everything else in that area with the exception of one little gift. They found "a 5mm hypondense nodule in the left lobe of the thyroid gland." Again this was 3 years ago. An untrasound was ordered to further characterise the nodule.

The ultrasound results were as follows "A 5 mm thyroid nodule with mixed echogenic charateristics probably representing an adenoma on the left side. Smaller nodules are seen on the right. The thyroid echogenicity is normal and there is no thyromegaly."
Could these be causing the feeling of something stuck in my throat all of a sudden? I had that feeling back then too but it only seemed to happen when I would think about it. Should I have these checked out again? I also have cysts on my testicles and have had them for many many years. I believe that the thyroid and the testicles both fall into a simliar category as to how they're made up. Could it be that I'm just predisposed to growths in my endocrine system. Did that make sense?

The above was cut and pasted, for the most part, from a forum that I'm not getting a response from so I thought I'd try here. After the ultrasound I put my thyroid and it's little buddies out of my mind. I was never asked to follow up on it or anything. I just recently went back to the ENT with a severe sore throat. He fixed that good enough but then I remembered about my nodules and asked if I should have them checked again. He said yes and now I'm worried again!!! Why am I worried? Should I be? I'm afraid of thyroid cancer!!!!

Thanks again and please forgive my frantic and probably nonsensical post.

My last post was not correct. The nodule is the same size at 5mm but is surround by a cyst that has the other measurements. The cyst wasn't mentioned in the report from 3 years ago but was referenced as being the same as it was last time.

So I had an ultrasound done today and the same nodual that was 5mm 3 years ago is now 1.7cm and classified as a fluid filled cyst. This was only from the mouth of the ultrasound technician. There may have seen a slight amount of solid material. Is this cause for concern now?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Most (90-95%) of these are benign lumps but ultrasound followup is indicated.  Would not be linked to testicles likely, but you are right that they are both glandular tissue.
