Nodules

What causes the nodules in the first place and can medication keep them from growing?  I have two and I don't even want to consider surgery.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Nodules are usually over-growth of benign thyroid tissue.  FNA biopsy is needed if they are larger than 1-1.5cm or have suspicious characteristics.  Medications do not usually help shrink them and are not usually recommended unless the TSH (thyroid blood test) is elevated.

How big are your nodules.  Many people have nodules but not are always very big.  It really depends on the size of them.  Do you have the size i.e., in centimetres or millimetres?
