Not sure if this will be significant, helpful, or even read by anyone but told my internist of these continuing symptoms, including the odd bad restless wakenings. I also said I need you to listen to me and take this seriously, which he did. I was concerned he might have reached a point of throwing an antidepressant at me and having done with it.I did not want to begin a search for a new doc at this point. In any case, he ran a plethora of blood work. Turned out my iron level is what he called "significantly deficient" Normal values being between 20-55%, mine is at 9 %. He wrote that he suspected that my "early morning restlessness-like symptoms" may be a sign of this deficiency. Recommended 325 ferrous sulfate 2x day (blech but ok) to be spaced at least 4 hrs after synthroid. Generally he includes the actual lab report, but seems to have forgotten this time. Next to thyroid is circled Normal and he wrote "perfect". I have a call in for specific answers to that and other results. Would like to know why such a low iron level, altho have read several spots that hashimotos can be a factor in itself, thru poor absorption.
Keep TSH around 1-2. Not sure about other symptoms -- pheochromocytoma can do this but it's very rare....Low B-12 can cause burning/numb feet.
I get the same adrenaline rushes when I wake up, mornings. Mine too settles down once I'm up and moving but at first when Im still in bed, I can stretch and it sets off adrenalin rushes.
The Dr. will come along and aswer you and may suggest 'anxiety' as a possible cause but if you're like me, you can tell it isn't really anxiety, just feels like it.
Something is messing with our adrenalin and I wonder if it is antibodies or leftover hormone we take that kicks in only after we wake up?
I look forward to the Docters answer on this one.
If you do get a chance though, I'm curious if you get this with the stretching too after waking up?
Hi! Same with me. Heart palpitations in AM. I am menopausal at 42, so this may have something to do with it. ARe you? Also, since the thyroid discovery, it seems that EVERYTHING for me is messing up bad. Previously a very healthy woman, now feel like I'm dying. New Dx: GERD. I have gassy belch & heartburn. Upper GI revealed a wide esophagus with occasional GERD. I am on Protonix + take a multivitamin. I wanted to ask the Dr., but you seem to take other meds. I take Synthroid ON IT'S OWN at 5:30am. No food, coffee, etc. for at least 2 hours. Then a Multi-vitamin at approx. 12:30pm & my Protonix (acid reducer) at 5:30PM. The Protonix will definitely interfere with the Synthroid if taken at the same time, but will it if spaced out enough? I imagine that many Hypothyroid patients have various other illnesses that require medication, so there must be a way to take other meds while the Synthroid. I mean, if we have to take it for the rest of our lives......Any input would help too, & I hope that I helped out. In reply, again, I get the anxious feelings more so since diagnosis & on Synthroid....OH YEAH, each new dosage of Synthroid I get EXTREMELY real-like dreams. Frightening at times. Not sure how or if this is related.....
It seems to kik in just as I am waking. As for the handsnumbness, the neuro has told me there are neuropathies associated w/ autoimmune thyroid problems, this does not seem to be connected to any anxieties. It used to occur for hours at a time during day and night, so in this regard I suppose thats better. About what I call the "fire ant feet" , I had high hopes that had finally gone. But it has reappeared.
I just hate waking this way every day. Hope you are feeling better soon :)
