PERSISTANT CHOCKING COUGH

I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A CHOCKING KIND OF COUGH FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS. I WAS TREATED WITH ANTI-BIOTICS FOR THIS BUT OF NO USE.  THE TESTS HAVE BEEN CONDUCUTED AND THE RESULTS ARE OK.
THE COUGH SOME TIMES STARTS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WHEN I AM DEEP IN SLEEP AND I GET UP CHOCKING AND I HAVE TO TAKE SOME ONE'S HELP TO RUB MY BACK SO THAT THE CHOCKING STOPS. I END UP BRINGING OUT SMALL BURPS.
THIS HAD NEVER HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE.
I SHALL BE EXTREMELY GRATEFUL TO YOU IF YOU CAN HELP DIAGONIZE THE CAUSE OF THIS.
I AM ALSO A THYROID PATIENT AND HAVE UNDERGONE SURGEORY AND ON DAILY MEDICATION.I HAVE UNDEGONE THYROID TEST ALSO TO FIND OUT IF THIS IS CAUSING THE COUGH- BUT THE TEST RESULTS ARE OK.

Sound like GERD (acid reflux disease).  When lying down the acid comes back up from your stomach into your esophegus and into your throat casuing cough, irritation and sometimes laryngitis.

RITAK, Hi, sorry about your problem, sounds like that would be very concerning. What kind of sugery was it you had? I ask because possibly you are experiencing post-op symptoms from anethesia etc... It doesn't sound like a thyroid related thing. Have you discussed it with your Doc? I wish I could imput more but if it isn't related to your recent operation, there are so many other things it could be. I hope you Doc can suggest diagnostic tests or possibilities.
Best Wishes.
