TSH level 6.3 pre conception

Hi my wife has TSH level of 6.3 .Doc has put on Thyroxine Sodium dose of 12 mcg per day (half tablet of thyrofit 25).
Just wanted to know with this dose how much time would it take for her TSH level to be fine.Also what should be the level of TSH if we are trying to conceive ?

Hi ..Thanks for your reply ..I already switched my doc and the new doc has prescribed her 50 mcg dosage , and she also shared the same opinion as you  regarding TSH level ,of bringing it lower than 2 range !!
Just wanted to know how much time would it take her to reach this level ? wil 2 months be enough ?

This is a low dose - would talk to your doctor about a higher dose to bring the TSH into the 0.3-2.0 range pre-conception.  Usually I use 50mcg in such situations, but sometimes 25mcg may suffice.
