Atypical

i have a 12mm suspcious Calcification that FNA results came back as Atypical...
Anybody had similar problem, was your thyroid removed? and whats the chances of it being cancerous

i cant get into see the specialist for 2 MONTHS!

Thats what i was worried about- my lymph nodes. they have been swollen for MONTHS now. and im having trouble breathing properly at night time.
i guess ill just have to wait to see the specialist- and maybe keep ringing to see if there are any cancellations or anything.

Atypical FNA carries about 10% risk of cancer and repeat FNA possibly w/ Afirma gene expression classifier would be advisable.  Some calcification make it difficult to get an accurate FNA - if this is the case and it is highly suspicious on ultrasound, removal may be a good option, but it is relatively small.  Make sure your doctor has looked with ultrasound at the surrounding lymph nodes as well.
