Confused and Unsure

My Symptoms to date,  30kg weight gain in 3 months, Alopecia, dizziness when raising arms, mental fogginess and EXTREME tiredness.
All blood tests are completely normal.

Thyroid is moderately enlarged, Trouble swallowing, Great difficulty breathing when lying down and Hoarse voice.

Endocrinologist was extremely concerned due to size of Thyroid and the rate of growth between August 2010 and November 2010.
I had a CT scan which didn't note any obvious obstructions.

Any idea what could be happening? Endo wanted Thyroid removed ASAP but with these CT results I'm worried the Surgeon(who I see next week) won't take any action.

Endo is 3 hours away hence the seeing a Surgeon who hasn't met the Endo

Thanks.

Thanks for replying.

The Scans done in Aug and Nov were Ultrasound, it was only yesterday that I had a CT.
I'm in quite a bit of pain and can barely talk at the moment, I'm just hoping that something is done. I wake up in the middle of the night not being able to breathe, like someone had their hands around my throat and it's just horrible.

Do you know if there's any cause for a Thyroid to be enlarged with there isn't a Thyroid disease present?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Thyroid ultrasound is better than CT for thyroid nodule evaluation.
This may be important to do before considering surgery to see if FNA biopsy is needed.
If the TSH is normal then medications are not likely to help.
The surgeon will review the CT images to see if thyroid is likely cause of symptoms then discuss possible surgery.
