Just palin tired

Hi
I have a hyperactrive thryoid caused by a goiter.
I seem to need so much more sleep lately and also I am taking beta blockers to control the rapid heartrate but once in a while (at the same tiem as a hot flash ususally) my heart rate goes fast again, int he 90s.
Taht is not overly fast I kow, but also with it comes this really hard, loud thump, that is what bothers me the most.
How do others deal with this?

I am schedule for a total thyroidectomy in November. I am allergic to tapazole so I have been told to just take the metoprolol (since March) and wait until the surgery, at which time they think I can go off the metoprolo once the thyroid is out since the heart rate should rop back to normal

Options are anti-thyroid drugs, surgery or I-131 for goiter causing hyperthyroidism.  Betablockers control the heart rate, but the thyroid levels need to be normalized - would talk to your endocrinologist about the cause (ie, diffuse goiter (Graves) vs nodular goiter) and the options for treatment.
