venous congestion and lightheadedness

My lab work up is normal except for TSH of 6.75 which has gone up in the last few months.  the veins in my arms are distended and torked and very obvious.  When I lay down my head feels like it is very full, or pressure.  I have a lump in my throat feeling on and off. Sometime I feel lightheaded and feel like will pass out but have not.   Palpitations, tachycardia intermittent chest pain. sometimes wake up at night feeling like I can't breath.  Echocardiagram is normal.  I think I have panic attacks but I also think there is something physically going on and that is making me have them I think.  The other night I was laying in bed on my side and had my hand under my ribs and so I could feel my heart beat really well and it just got weaker and weaker until I could hardly feel it and my head started to feel all light and cold.  So I hurry and move and then it goes away. I also have started having tingly sensations on my head-like when your hand "falls asleep".  I also raised my arms up and my vein in my neck got really distended.I was on Synthroid for a couple months but all this seemed to get worse so they took me off.  Am I just anxious-I think its some Thorasic outlet syndrome or weird goiter thing or something more.  They want to start me on Paxil that  doesn't seem like the answer to everything nor the ambien to sleep better. I've been breastfeeding and trying to wean to get to the bottom of this.  I have 4 kids my husbands in residency and thinks its just nerves. I've called the ambulance twice and gone to the ER once Please help me find some answers????

Your TSH is high and probably is causing some of your symptoms. When my thyroid first went out I had anxiety and panic attacks. I thought I was losing my mind. I have come to find this is a very hard disease to deal with. It seems to have a life of it's own and makes me feel quite nuts at times. By your TSH numbers you are hypothyroid. My best advice to you is ask your family doctor for a referral to a Endo.

I've had the exact same symptoms as you describe and have been going to my ENT, Primary Care and Cardiologist and Endocrinologist and had various tests to try and find out what is going on.  I was diagnosed with Graves Disease with hyperthyroidism 3 1/2 years ago and have been on medication for the hyperthyroidism ever since.  But these particular symptoms have just begun.  I am somewhat relieved that someone else not only has the same symptoms but more that likely they are caused  by something related to the thyroid. You definitely need to see an endocrinologist and I need to speak to mine soon about these issues.
