Thank you so much! I feel so much better to hear that. I appreciate your help.
Hi, What Tina999 says is what the medical websites also say, that if ABs are elevated, how highly elevated does not necessarily mean worse disease. Hashimoto's Disease patient's thyroids die off from autoimmune process, so how quickly this happens won't mean worse symptoms. The main thing, is taking the right amount of hormone replacement for the hypothyroidism that is caused by the disease. Don't let it scare you, I've heard of people having as high as 24,000 and yet their TSH level was only moderately elevated!
These thyroid diseases we have are strange and sometimes unpredictable but Thank God for hormone level blood tests, without them we would be in trouble!
Hi meme,
My TPO antibodies were at 1000 and my boss's were at 2000. Her hypo symptoms were worse than mine but I don't know how symptoms relate to magnitude. The antibodies are what overtime kills off the thyroid cells and causes the hypothyroidism but if you are being treated for that already and are feeling okay you are probebly okay-not reason to panic at least. The other thing is that the scale they measure the anitbodies on is kinda fuzzy-they make a standard curve using positive samples and usually go for either a positive or negative answer and don't worry too much about how positive or negative it is, as it doesn't always directly relate to the symptoms. Hope that helps!
