thyroid

I  went to doctors for help with my thyroid last week 5 may 2012, and am told it is fine,I do not agree with my doctorIso i asked my doctor for a refferal letter and he has refused me. on the 9 may 2012 i went to london to see a private doctor whittfield st,Ihad a chest xray and full blood count dune, which was not cheap, my chest xray is fine but my thyroid is 5.20, the doctor i saw said i have an under active thyroid, and he said i need treatmeant, also my cholesterol was slightly high,5.9.HD L cholesterol 3.3.  I need to go on a low fat diet. Today 10 may 2012 i went back to my doctor and told him i have  an under active thyroid and he dissergreed, so i showed him my results from the doctor from london and he was gob smacked and did not know what to say, i asked for treatment and he said it was slightly high. I am  normaly very active  and slim, but lately i am tired and have gained half a stone, i no some thing is not right, PLEASE can any one tell me if my thyroid is normal or to high as my doctor isent listening to me, i have been looking on the internet for treatment and have found some, my doctor dose not agree with this, so that tells me something is not right. Please can anyone help as im going out of my mind with worrie.THANKS

This modest elevation in TSH may reflect a mild hypothyroidism.  In some cases this reverts back to normal on its own, in other cases this is a manifestation of hypothyroidism most commonly due to Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

Please can you tell me if this life threating,are they any cuers, and would it cause your throat to feel tight,and make you feel short of breath and feel like you are going to pass out. All i want is some straight answers, and to know what is wrong with me. PLEASE HELP, ALL IVE DUNE FOR 8 MONTHS IS WORRIE. THANKS
