Help with Ultrasound Report

Hello, I am new to this board and hope someone wont mind looking at my information and giving me some feedback.

History: My mom had an enlarged thyroid for many years with normal blood, this was years ago and was never ultrasound - don't think they had it then :) Then overnight it grew to twice it's size and they removed it.

I am 43 have normal blood work (TSH T4 T3) but I was having joint pain, fullness feeling in neck area, feeling like was going to get a sore throat and a bit of a cough - but I don't have a cold, ear pain.  Dr felt one side of my thyroid was slightly enlarged and sent me for an ultrasound.  Here are the findings:

Right Lobe:  5.0cm x AP 2.9cm x 2.0cm

2.0 x 1.07 x 1.70cm mixed echo nodule, mid aspect superior pole. Increased vascularity noted within nodule.

0.75 x 0.56cm slightly hypoechoic nodule, medial aspect, unction middle one-third/inferior one-third.

Remainder of lobe is homogeneous.

Left Lobe: 4.9x AP 1.9 x 1.9cm

1.37 x 0.85 x 1.05cm isoechoic nodule, with thin peripheral hypoechoic rim. Small hypoechoic area in this nodule. Mild increased vascularity.

2.0 x 0.97 x 1.40 slightly hyperechoic nodule middle one third left lobe.

Remainder of left lobe is homogeneous echotexture.

I am going to meet with an ENT on Wednesday and I gather he will talk to me about FNA, but nothing will be done that day.

Just below my collar bone I have a lump too, could it be a lymph node?

Just wondering want to expect. Any advise/input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much!

megz777 - this is high-normal in terms of size (depending on where you live and iodine intake).

Ramion - You have nodules on the right and left that are large enough (the 2cm ones) for biopsy which should be done under ultrasound guidance.  The lump at the "v" may be a thyroid nodule or less likely a lymph node - but your ENT should be able to sort this out.

Well, mine (measurements in the first post above) was classed as borderline enlarged, but yours is bigger than mine - so definitely enlarged thyroid. Did they not provide any more details than that?

The lump is in the v of my collar bone, so I don't know if we have lymph nodes there or not.

Thanks
